Mail return item restrictions

For an item to be eligible for shipping via pre-paid mail, it must meet the following requirements:

  1. The package does not contain hazardous materials

  2. If you are using Happy Returns’ carrier accounts, the shipment must not exceed the dimensional weight limits defined by our carriers. If you are using your own carrier account, refer to your carrier representative for shipment dimensional weight limits.

Hazardous materials

Items regulated as hazardous materials (e.g., by the U.S. Department of Transportation) are generally ineligible for Return Bar and pre-paid label mail return services. Such items include lithium-ion batteries, pressurized containers, and items that pose a fire risk (many aerosol and nail polish products are potentially flammable).

It is each merchant’s responsibility to ensure their items’ compliance with applicable hazardous materials requirements in their jurisdiction.

For more information, the U.S. Department of Transportation maintains multiple online resources on hazardous materials, including the Is It Hazmat? guidance.
