Encouraging shoppers to choose a Gift Card or store credit as their refund option is a great way to retain revenue and promote future purchases. To incentivize shoppers to make that selection, you can add additional store credit in the form of a Gift Card Bonus to sweeten the deal. 

How do Gift Card Bonuses work?

After the shopper selects the Gift Card return option, they will be taken to the Return Preview, which will show the Gift Card Bonus as a line item added to the Gift Card total. As soon as the return is approved, the Gift Card (including the bonus amount) will be issued and they’ll receive a confirmation email.

Enabling Gift Card Bonuses

To enable Gift Card Bonuses:

  1. On your Happy Returns Retailer Dashboard, navigate to the Settings > Return Policies page

    1. Scroll down to the Gift Card tile and toggle it on

    2. You must be using the Happy Returns Shopify public application or Shopify Plus to enable this feature

  2. Check the box next to Gift Card Bonus

  3. Set the Bonus Amount, which will be based on a shopper’s order currency

  4. Use the dropdown under Applied On to select whether the Gift Card Bonus will be applied at the Return or Item Level 

    1. If applied at the Return Level, the bonus amount can only be applied once per return, regardless of the number of items in the return

    2. If applied at the Item Level, the bonus amount will be applied once per item in a return
